Teacher Ignores Teenage Girl’s Plea As She Is Gang Raped In School

Posted: 20 Feb 2016 12:21 PM PST

Six boys, between the ages of 15 and 16 have been arrested and will face charges for the ‘gang-rape’ of a 15-year-old schoolgirl several times last year.

Austria’s national paper, Kleinezeitung reports other people were involved indirectly in the sexual assault at the New Middle School in Graz, Austria.

One of them being her classroom teacher who ignored her plea for help after she was being sexually harassed by the boys in the toilet. She did not even investigate or report the child’s claims later.

The victim moved to a new school where she confessed to one of the staffs about her sexual abuse at her previous school. The staff reported the matter and investigations commenced.

360nobsaustrianrapecase  According to local media reports:

Fourteen days before the gang-rape in the medical room in May, the victim had previously been harassed by the group of boys in the toilet and she screamed for help.

When her classmates informed their teacher of was what happening, she acted indifferent and rebuked the girl for arriving late to class.

Later, that same day, the girl was raped in the classroom, with two boys guarding the door in case anyone tried to come in.

The next day, she was raped in the medical room.

The teenager who was a student at New Middle School informed her teacher of her predicament but she was dismissed and blamed for coming to class late.

Several students who reportedly witnessed the event have also been arrested and will be charged. The arrested group of teenagers are involved for failing to take the matter to school officials when the report to their teacher yielded no action.

The suspected youths who perpetuated the rape, graduated in autumn and were a part of a notorious group in school.

They are accused of gang raping the girl in the school’s medical room in May, as well as sexually molesting the victim. The group have been charged with rape.

Spokesman for the Graz prosecutor, Hansjörg Bacher, confirmed:

A report in the Kleine Zeitung that a female teacher from the school had been questioned as part of the investigation and said that she is believed to have known that the girl was being harassed by the boys and that she even heard her screaming as she was being raped but didn't do anything to stop it.

Some of the questions being asked include:

Was the cries for help of the victim heard – and ignored? Did they inform the director too late about the incident?.

Five of the six sex-offenders are of African-American descent according to The Local. A total number of eighteen people have been arrested in connection to the case.

Tuchel: Fighting For Three Trophies Excites Dortmund Players

Posted: 20 Feb 2016 12:16 PM PST

Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Dortmund players are looking forward to playing more games.

Dortmund are fighting for BuLi glory, as well as the Europa League and the DFB Pokal.

Dortmund are gearing up for Sunday’s clash against Leverkusen and Tuchel has suggested a possible rotation.

“My players are used to it and love the extra challenge,” he said. “They can really show what they’re made of.

“It is important though, to take the time to recover properly.

“After the last game two days ago, we won’t be doing too much in training today, so that we will be in the best possible condition for tomorrow’s match.

“I might play fresher legs. That can rest on individual impressions.”

Roger Schmidt’s Leverkusen are unbeaten in six Bundesliga matches and Tuchel anticipates a tough test.

“They have quality individuals at their disposal and their style of play is very intensive” he added.

“Leverkusen are playing with lots of confidence at the moment and plenty of grit.

“I’m expecting a game at the highest level again.”

Dortmund were 3-0 winners in September’s reverse fixture.

Luis Enrique Urges Barcelona To Fight On

Posted: 20 Feb 2016 11:57 AM PST

Luis Enrique is happy with Barcelona’s tenacious display in the victory over Las Palmas.

Suarez and Neymar scored on either side of a Willian Jose leveller.

And with the fixtures coming thick and fast, Enrique hopes Barcelona can keep up.

“I don’t think there was a lack of rhythm. It was an effective performance,” he told reporters after the match. “We had chances to close the game before the final 10 minutes, in which they also had opportunities.

“The interventions from [Las Palmas goalkeeper] Javi Varas were at a high level. In the second half we could have been more compact and had chances to win well, but they were also able to draw at the end.

“Playing every two days, the only thing we can ask is that players keep on competing. I am happy with what I have seen, but we can improve things.

Luis Enrique removed Arda Turan from his midfield in favour of Ivan Rakitic at the break, but insisted it had nothing to do with the visit to Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday.

“Arda subbed off at half-time? He had a yellow card, we didn’t want to take risks,” he explained.

“Arsenal will no doubt make things complicated and they have the quality to trouble us. It will be difficult, they [matches in the Champions League] all are.”

Not Bribery! Embattled Ricky Tarfa Admits Giving ₦225,000 To Justice Yunusa

Posted: 20 Feb 2016 08:35 AM PST

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Rickey Tarfa, who is currently being accused by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of bribing Justice Mohammed Yunusa of the Federal High Court with N225,000 has explained why he gave money to the Judge.

Rickey Tarfa, (SAN) is currently being quizzed by the EFCC with respect to bribery of Justice Mohammed Yunusa
Rickey Tarfa, (SAN) is currently being quizzed by the EFCC with respect to allegation of N225,000 bribery of Justice Mohammed Yunusa

Tarfa admitted in an affidavit he filed on Friday, February 19, before a Federal ‎High Court in Lagos, that the money was a contribution by some friends of Mr. Yunusa towards the funeral rites of his father-in-law, Alhaji Audi Damasa.

He maintained that the money was not a bribe but a donation made by some friends of Justice Yunusa to cover part of the funeral of the judge's father-in-law.

He said, "Contrary to paragraphs 31, 54 and 55 of Moses Awolusi's (EFCC operative) counter-affidavit, the access to the applicant's firm's Access Bank account details was done by the respondents after the arrest and detention of the applicant on 5th February, 2016 without consent and authority of the applicant.

"The applicant (Mr. Tarfa) did not on 7th January, 2014 bribe Honourable Justice M.N. Yunusa with the sum of N225,000 or any other sum at all," the lawyer stated in the affidavit deposed to by John Odubela, the head of his chambers.

"It was common knowledge in the legal circles that Honourable Justice M.N. Yunusa lost his father-in-law, Alhaji Audi Garba Damasa on the 28th December, 2013 in Maiduguri and travelled there to attend to the funeral rites.

"The applicant and some friends of Honourable Justice M.N. Yunusa made some donations towards the said funeral rites and to commiserate with the judge since they could not physically go and commiserate with him in Maiduguri, where he was and stayed for a while.

"The contributed monies amounted to N225,000, which sum was given to the applicant with the responsibility to get same across to the bereaved judge.

"The applicant consequently made arrangements to forward the sum N225,000.

"I know as a fact that it is common in Nigeria for friends and well-wishers to contribute gifts in cash and kind to people who are celebrating or bereaved."

Nigeria's anti-graft agency had alleged that‎ Mr. Tarfa made phone contacts with Mr. Yunusa in a case before the judge.

The EFCC also provided phone numbers of Mr. Tarfa, the judge, and bank documents detailing money transfer from the lawyer to Justice Yunusa.

The Commission had arraigned Mr. Tarfa before a Lagos High Court, last Tuesday, for allegedly obstructing two of its officers from arresting Gnanhooue Sourou and Nazaire Odeste, the owners of Rana Prestige Industries.

In response, Mr. Tarfa filed a N2.5 billion fundamental rights action enforcement suit against the EFCC protesting his arrest and detention by the Commission.

First Wave Of Zika Virus Blows Into Ontario, Canada

Posted: 20 Feb 2016 08:33 AM PST

Ontario, Canada

Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long-term Care, has confirmed its first wave of Zika virus in the capital after an individual tested positive for the virus.

The patient had gone to Colombia in the South Americas and returned into the capital with the virus. It is unknown if the patient is male or female, though it has been confirmed the patient is not pregnant.

Although small cases (Nine, 9) have previously been reported in certain States in Canada -in British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec —this is the first case in its capital, Ontario.

360NobsCanada
Canadian Health Minister Jane Philpott warns individual to avoid travelling to countries that have displayed local transmission of the Zika virus.

In a statement released to the press, Friday, by the ministry’s province Chief Medical Officer; it read;

Public Health Ontario received positive test results for the virus in an individual who had traveled to Colombia.

The ministry did not confirm whether the person affected is a man or a woman, but did say that the patient is not pregnant.

From the beginning of the outbreak in Central and South America, we have taken steps to ensure our health system and our partners are prepared should a returning traveler be suspected of having the virus.

Anyone who has traveled to countries affected by the virus should speak with their health-care provider, who can advise them on the need for testing.

The risk to Ontarians remains “very low” as mosquitoes known to transmit the virus are not established in Canada and not suited to this country’s climate.

Ensuring that Ontarians are fully informed about emerging and infectious diseases such as Zika virus is a priority.

The ministry will continue to update Ontarians and health care providers on the status of Zika virus as updates are received from the Public Health Agency of Canada, World Health Organization, Pan American Health Organization and U.S. Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

Since the first cases popped up in Brazil in May last year, Zika infections have gone viral in South and Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean, CBC reports.

Though most people show no symptoms after contracting the virus, others experience rash, red eyes, joint pain and fever.

The virus which is constantly linked to Brazil records over four-thousand-four-hundred cases of infants with small heads – a condition called (microcephaly) – born to women who probably got infected while pregnant.

360nobsbrazil-zika-virus
Brazilian officials still say they believe there’s a sharp increase in cases of microcephaly and strongly suspect the Zika virus, which first appeared in the country last year, is to blame.

Some of the infants also displayed Guillain-Barre syndrome “a neurological condition that can cause muscle weakness or even partial paralysis”.

According to the Health Minister Jane Philpott, Wednesday:

The number of Canadians infected with the Zika virus has risen to nine. There have been no cases of locally transmitted Zika virus in Canada.

We can assume that they were most likely mosquito-borne, but they were all contracted [outside] the country, not local transmission.

The minister did not confirm if the virus was or could be sexually transmitted.

The World Health Organization disclosed that vaccines to protect against Zika virus are at least 18 months away from large-scale trials. It had also stated earlier that Canada was one of the countries that could not get the virus.

So far, all transmissions have been limited to mosquito bites.

Thoughts/Verdict

Mosquitoes have always been in existence, its a marvel they suddenly decided to become infectious.

Is it nature fighting back or something else?

The election is a close contest between a former Senate President, David Mark, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and David Onjeh, a former student's leader, and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The rerun is coming on the heels of the Appeal Court nullification of the initial election on March 28, 2015 of which Mr Mark was declared winner.

Accreditation started and is going on smoothly in most polling units.

Benue South Senatorial District has nine local government areas, dominated mainly by the Idoma ethnic nationality.

Strong indications have emerged that a fifteen year old teenager has been crowned the traditional ruler of the kingdom of Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha South LGA of Delta State.

Chukwuka Noah Akaeze I, replaced his father Obi Akaeze Edward Ofulue III, who was found dead last month after being kidnapped by unknown gunmen, Daily Sun reports.

The teenager was on Friday, February 19, after fulfilling the various rites, presented to the council of elders at the palace. Before the public presentation, the king was upon being crowned, first presented to his family.

The brief ceremony was attended by prominent citizens of the kingdom including the member representing Aniocha/Oshimili constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Mrs. Ony-emaechi Mrakpor and the President-General of Ubulu-Uku Development Union, Comrade Jones Ofunne.

Also in attendance was the chairman of Aniocha South council, Mr. Isaac Anwuzia, traditional chiefs and title holders in the kingdom, religious leaders, women, youths and other stakeholders of the agrarian community

Addressing the significance of the ceremony, the Secretary of the Palace, Barrister Joseph Obazei said:

"This is a young man who was not even looking up to this position because his father was young and vibrant, unfortunately this bad event occurred.

"He has now been thrust upon the throne taking up the mantle of his late father. Ubulu-Uku people are very happy that somebody has taken up the throne because the king never dies.

"When it appears that there is no king, there is already a king. That is what has just happened."

"By our tradition, you can wake up in the morning and see the heir apparent sitting on the throne and issue orders which will be obeyed. That will show that something happened in the night and something has happened now.

"So this young man has taken over the stool of his father, and now he can begin to direct the town."

The new king is expected to be presented with his staff of office soon.

‘Gov Darius Ishaku, PDP Undeserving Of My Congratulations’ – Mama Taraba

In a statement issued, on Friday, February 19, the Minister stated that: "I have heard that some people have said that I will not continue as a politician and that I am worried."

"Why should I be worried? If President Buhari contested 3 times and became the President after the 4th contest. Not because he lost the first three, but because the fourth time was God's time."

"Why wouldn't I continue? I didn't get it this time because it is not God's time, because everybody knows I won the election, even PDP people in Taraba State. PDP people know I won the election because they know the manipulation they did in the government lodge Wukari, where they added over 50, 000 votes for Darius."

"They also know they manipulation they did in Donga and Kurmi LGA's where they manipulated and also added about 50, 000 votes together for Darius. Therefore, I am not angry with anybody, instead I thank God for giving me good health and strength to contests and win the over 270,000 votes I got in the election. Clean real votes, not manipulated like the PDP votes."

"I say all this without fear of contradiction because PDP people know this. So we will all watch as this government which has little or no understanding of the plight and needs of the people of Taraba, let alone know solutions for them."

"I don't know why people worry about me not congratulating Darius. I did not because you only congratulate true and deserving winners. He knows that he did not win. Therefore, he is not deserving of my congratulations."

"Once again I seize this opportunity to thank my supporters and urge them to remain steadfast and continue believing in God and start getting ready for the next round. I pray God grants us all long life and good health to fight next round."

Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Russia And Qatar Agree On Oil Output Freeze

Posted: 20 Feb 2016 02:36 AM PST

The world’s largest producers of oil Russia and Saudi Arabia have agreed to take the measure of freezing oil output at January level which will assist in preventing further decline in its oil prices.

Both countries calculated a heavy loss this past January which equals a twelve-year all time low. The loss follows OPEC’s policy of unrestricted pumping, which has sent prices plummeting to below US$30 a barrel since June 2014 highs of $110.

At the closed door meeting which was held in Doha, ministers from Venezuela and Qatar were in attendance; also Saudi-Arabian Minister of Oil, Ali Al Naimi finally agreed to end the OPEC policy of unrestricted pumping.

January’s output for the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries was at 33.1 million barrels a day, and is recorded as its highest ever; this implies that any impact the freeze will have on the oil price is likely to be very minimal.

Discussing on the new freeze policy, Mr Al Naimi said,

"Freezing now at the January level is adequate for the market, we believe. We recognize today the supply is going down because of current prices. We also recognize that demand is on the rise."

"It is the beginning of a process which we will assess in the next few months and decide if we need other steps to stabilise and improve the market,"

Russia also recorded its highest level in history in January, producing ten-point-nine-million barrels a day. Russia is not a part of OPEC.

The oil-output freeze move is said to represent a deviation from the original policy earlier adopted at the OPEC’s December meeting where the group agreed to totally remove production caps.

The ministers also said for the oil freeze policy to pull through other oil producers including Iran will have to come aboard.

Iran’s oil minister, Bijan Namdar Zaganeh, has continuously told newsmen:

‘Iran does not intend to cut oil productions, as the country seeks to use revenue from sales to lift its economy out of recession. ‘

Iran, which was earlier sanctioned was also let loose this January allowing the country to drastically increase its oil production.

In a bid to control the low oil price which had caused economic and financial pain across the Gulf, government leaders including UAE and Saudi Arabi reduced public spending to aid in preserving financial reserves of their countries.

An emerging market economist, Jason Tuvey feels the oil-freeze agreement is "unlikely to significantly alter the economic outlook for the Gulf Cooperation Council"

He said:

Even if all Opec members, including Iran, agree to comply with the target, high production will still keep oil prices low, depressing the economic outlook for Gulf states.

4 Year-Old Boy Gets ‘Life Imprisonment’ For Alleged Crimes Committed When He Was 2

Posted: 20 Feb 2016 02:33 AM PST

In a grotesquely strange move, a court in Western Cairo this week sentenced a four-year-old boy to life in prison on various heinous charges bordering on murder, inciting riots, destruction of government property and threatening cops, The Jerusalem Post reports.

Tyrannical System in Egypt sentences four-Year-Old Boy to Life in Prison for alleged Crimes committed when he was one
Tyrannical System in Egypt sentences four-year-old Boy to life in prison for alleged crimes committed when he was one

The little boy, Ahmed Mansour Karni, who was born in September 2012, got the life in prison term on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, after being convicted in absentia of offenses that allegedly occurred two years ago.

Although the boy was less than two years old during the civil unrest in 2014, he was convicted in absentia due to a clerical error and the court's incompetence.

It was gathered that Karni was listed as “wanted” for murder, disturbance of the peace and damaging state property in an indictment that listed 115 other defendants sentenced to life imprisonment.

The indictment stated the charges against the youngster in full as four counts of murder, eight counts of attempted murder, vandalising property belonging to the Egyptian Health Administration in his home province of el-Fayoum, threatening soldiers and police officers and damaging vehicles belonging to security forces.

Although Karni's birth certificate was presented to the court, one of his defense attorneys accused the presiding judge of failing to review the case before abruptly passing down a life sentence on a four-year-old child.

Lawyer Faisal a-Sayd asserted, "The child Ahmed Mansour Karni's birth certificate was presented after state security forces added his name to the list of accused, but then the case was transferred to the military court and the child was sentenced in absentia in an ensuing court hearing. This proves that the judge did not read the case."

Another Egyptian lawyer Mohammed Abu Hurira issued a fiery response, writing:

“On the eve of injustice and madness in Egypt, a four year-old child was sentenced to life imprisonment. He is accused of disturbance, damage to property and murder. The Egyptian scales of justice are not reversible. There is no justice in Egypt. No reason. Logic committed suicide a while ago. Egypt went crazy. Egypt is ruled by a bunch of lunatics.”

The sentencing also set social media ablaze as netizens pour out their spleen on the Egyptian legal system, accusing the government of corruption and injustice.

A blogger and wife of Egyptian human rights activist Nibin Melek wrote in a post that the sentencing “was a blind decision.”

Aside from ruthlessly punishing innocent children, the Egyptian government has become notorious for imprisoning journalists and escalating police brutality in recent years.

Pope Francis Approves The Use Of Birth Control In Colombia

Posted: 20 Feb 2016 02:30 AM PST

The Zika virus which hit Colombia the worst has threatened the very basis of Catholic faith.

The Catholic church is always pro-life 100%, but Pope Francis, leader of the faith, shocked a lot of Catholics, Thursday, when he welcomed the option of permitting birth control to aid in the prevention of pregnancy in areas affected by the Zika vrus.

While flying back to the Vatican after his visit to Mexico, the pope explained in a press conference:

"Avoiding pregnancy is not an absolute evil. In certain cases … it was clear."

While those who argued against his decision gave their reasons, the Pope made reference to the case of Pope Paul VI who permitted nuns in Africa to “use contraceptives in cases of rape”.

Pope-Francis

The Pope’s veering from the church’s absolute rejection of birth control will cause a lot of controversy during the proceeding days.

Colombia is an active Catholic-country, as well as being the second-worst country in the World suffering from the Zika virus. The Pope’s words in the country comes with lots of consequences.

Archbishop of Tunja, Monsignor Luis Augusto Castro said in a press conference, Friday,

"These are decisions for each woman to make, but we don't believe that the solution is so simple.

We must kill Zika, not children."

Still, while the Pope’s words might upset some individuals or countries against birth-control, Colombia is an active-contraceptive user though over eighty percent of its population are Catholics.

A recent national study states that:

Birth control use among Colombian women between the ages of 15 and 49 varies between 56 and 61 percent depending on the region.

But women in relationships or who are sexually active are much more likely to use contraception, with rates of roughly 80 percent.

Director of the master’s program in sexual and reproductive health at the Universidad El Bosque, Elsa Marino clarified:

The promotion of family planning and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections are priorities for the health sector.

Although the church continues to have influence, the use of traditional methods (coitus interruptus, abstinence and others) has decreased while more modern methods have become more popular. Not all parts of the country are equal, however.

In the Vaupés department, for example, only 47 percent of couples use contraception. But Zika has pushed the government to be even more proactive.

The Colombian government has established the necessity of condom use in sexual relations as a way to prevent transmission of the virus and to prevent pregnancy.

It remains to be seen if the Pope’s new shift in thinking will seep into the general Catholic teachings and they will embrace birth control.

The Vatican’s age-old decision of “No birth-control” has been altered by Zika virus.

360Nobszikavuirus

His pronouncement to accept birth control was made regarding the Zika outbreak for the country of Colombia, so far. Though their are other Catholic-countries in South-America also plagued by the disease.

It is left to be known if other Countries with the Catholic faith will follow soon.

The Catholic church does not even induce labor to facilitate miscarriage. As long as their is a fetal heartbeat, no Catholic doctor is allowed to abort or control a child’s existence despite it being a risk to the mother’s life.

Thought/Verdict

Ordinarily, staunch Catholics will never accept birth-control but with the Pope of the Vatican, the most revered man in the Catholic faith giving birth control his ‘Okay’, some will not be as staunch as they used to be.

Hit the comment section if you support or oppose the Pope’s new shift in perspective.

“Beyonce Is Anti-Police”, Tampa Officers Refuse To Volunteer For Sold-Out Performance

Posted: 20 Feb 2016 02:24 AM PST

Beyonce has been scheduled to perform her sold-out concert slated for April 29 at the Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida; though the concert does not have any police officers from the Tampa Police Department volunteering for security details.

The reason? Her performance of ‘Formation’ at the Super Bowl 50 halftime has been tagged anti-police by critics; and she is blamed for the recent rise in police officer deaths, according to a Sheriff from Tennessee.

Reports across the States have it that unions as well as law enforcement officers have spoken out against Queen Bey’s Black Panther-inspired halftime performance and her "Formation" music video.

They assert it begets imagery of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Baring his mind on the matter, Sheriff Robert Arnold, of Rutherford County, Tennessee, who had gunshots fired at his home on Monday night held a press conference on Tuesday.

At the conference, he cited Beyonce's video and her performance, “essentially blaming the pop star for the recent rise in police officer deaths nationwide”, Fox reported.

A local News affiliate said the show which is sold-out should had off-duty officers lining up to provide security for the concert but it seems the reverse is the case.

Typically, off-duty officers volunteer to work concerts and sporting events for the extra income, but none have signed up to work security for Beyonce's April 29 concert at Raymond James Stadium.

Police Spokesman, Steve Hegarty did not state if the lack of sign ups was due to officers’ anger against Beyonce though he explained “the department still has plenty of time to fill those slots”.

Hegarty said:

We're going to staff it because we have a responsibility to do that regardless of how controversial it might be, who the artist might be, or the politician might be.

This is a couple of months away, so we've still got plenty of time to fill those slots.

Tampa Police still have not clarified if officers could be forced to work the concert or if the officers already on duty that night could be reassigned to cover it.

Thoughts/Verdict:

They will provide Beyonce with security details or her fans will work as security details that day and the officers will have a harder time bringing decorum to the county.

Strong indications via letters and photographs have emerged on a story of Pope John Paul II's close relationship with a married woman, which lasted more than 30 years, BBC reports on Monday, February 15, 2016.

The letters which the Pope sent to Polish-born American philosopher Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka had been kept away from public view in the National Library of Poland for years.

There was no suggestion that the Pope broke his vow of celibacy, however the documentary revealed a rarely seen side of the pontiff, who died in 2005.

An Intimate Open Letter To P-Square

Posted: 19 Feb 2016 11:55 PM PST

There were two little black birds sitting on a wall

One named Peter, the other named Paul

Fly away Peter, fly away Paul…

Dear Peter and Paul,

This is Sally. You may not remember me anymore. I used to be a close friend but these days I am sure I do not cross your mind. However, I'm not holding it against you and I don't think any of your old friends are, either. We all understand that fame can separate people by thousands of miles. Millions, even. It is how these things go. No hard feelings. We are actually proud of you guys, and hold dear the memories of the past when you were just next door and we could barge in at any time and spend the day together.

All of that seem just like yesterday. Time has run so fast and we have gone our separate ways, facing our realities and dreams. We were privileged to watch you guys grow from the scratch to become the mega superstars you are now. Everyone knew you guys were going to make it big. You were born to reach the top.

But sadly, you are falling so fast. If anyone ever told us money will come between guys, we would have shut them down, told them they had no idea who Peter and Paul were and what they meant to each other.

We don't have all the details of what's happening in Squareville and I'm sure it's beyond money but when it comes to the point where brothers engage in a war over superiority and who controls what, then Houston, we have a problem.

I hope you guys do realize that you are not just P-Square or just Peter and Paul Okoye. You are now symbols to many out there, ambassadors to Nigeria and Africa. I still use you as a template for hard work and determination. There is no success story as sweet as yours. And just in case you have forgotten, I will remind you a bit, telling it how I saw it from my own angle.

I can't remember when I first met you guys but I had heard about you from friends in Jos. Somehow the name Smooth Criminals always popped out from someone's lips. There was talk about these twins who could dance like Michael Jackson and whose family owned the popular Twins Bakery in town. They said you guys schooled in St. Murumba, an all-boys school just a stone throw from my house. But I never met you guys I went to Gwags (University of Abuja) and joined the entertainment club, Lucianos, founded by Tony Oneya.

Lucianos was the place for talent and cool kids, and when I watched you guys during rehearsals for the first time, oh my God! I was struck! I fell in love with any and everything P-Square from that moment. I wasn't much of a dancer then but I always attended rehearsals just to watch you guys dance. Your attention to perfection always blew my mind. Peter, you were a more intense dancer than Paul who could dance as well but was more into the vocal aspect of music.

You guys always brought down the house at Lucianos shows in school. You made established musicians feel like nothing and added flavor to our raves as a club. You were always motivating and inspiring. I remember when Lucianos had an internal crisis and people were thinking of quitting and you, Paul, stood up and gave a passionate speech about working together as a family and pursuing what we believed in. You were upset that we were falling apart when working together could be so easy.

Is there a way you could bring back that guy and let him speak to you both right now?

Outside school, you guys were even more focused. Being that I was jobless during the holidays and had this huge crush on Peter, I was always at your house. But more than anything, I was drawn there to watch the Smooth Criminals rehearse for performances. My Lord, Peter and Paul, you people drilled your team to precision. Not a hand or foot or head was out of place. You worked until you passed out and then you'd provide food for your friends. Your house, like your darling mom's heart (may she rest in peace) was open to everyone. Sometimes I found it strange if I visited and there was no one around. You guys were generous with your warmth towards others.

Paul, I didn't know you so much because you were a little reserved but there was no telling where you stopped and where Peter started. You two were one and your bond was unbreakable. I remember the studio you guys built for yourselves in your house and all the songs you recorded in it. Peter, you would tell me of your dreams and where you wanted to be in the next ten years. Isn't God amazing? You made it, my friend, and surpassed all those dreams. Why are you letting the dream stealer take it all away from you now?

In those days, funds were not easy to come by and costumes were expensive to put together. But you guys always found a way. You would go to Katako market (a popular second-hand market in Jos) and buy bits and pieces of your costumes; come back home and design them until you got what you wanted.

Peter, remember those days in school when you went to lecture halls in the evenings with your guitar and disturbed people who were reading by serenading them with songs? To anyone who wanted to listen to your songs, you were generous with your CDs much to Paul's annoyance sometimes, who felt there should be a level of restriction to how you distributed it. Gwags loved you, P-Square. There was hardly a soul that didn't know your songs word for word. Before you shared Dem Don Kolo, Last Night and Igbedu to the world, we rocked those songs until we were tired. Every semester, you brought us something new. Your music was your life then. Is it still your life?

And then little by little, you began to get noticed outside Jos and Abuja. I recall that one trip to University of Maiduguri where you had to perform on the same stage with Plantashun Boiz who were a huge deal then. You guys went up first and dazed everyone. Girls were literally weeping as you stood on that stage. I had looked up and stared at 2Face who was sitting at the far end of the spectators' stand and I was sure I saw a look of puzzlement. When they came up for their own performance, the crowd was half-receptive. After they left, chants of "P-Square! P-Square!" rented the air and you had to come back and do it all over again.

Those were days of little beginnings. I am reminding you because there's a passage in the scriptures that tells us not to forget them.

In 2002, Owen who was a mutual friend then organized a beauty show sponsored by Coca-Cola and at some point, things were falling apart financially that made him want to quit everything. But you guys walked up to him and told him not to give up, that money should never be a reason to dump his plans, that you were willing to give him the funds he needed even though you had very little. He took your advice and everything fell into place eventually, leading to an awesome show. As usual, you guys brought the house down.

He has never forgotten that day. He spoke to you guys as well, telling you he saw you becoming very famous and wealthy. He urged you never to let anything or anyone tear you apart.

Do you remember his words?

School and life separated me from you guys for a while but we still kept in contact each time we bumped into each other and also back at home. There was gist that Jude was now supporting you. I was happy to hear that at last you were going places. I felt as your eldest brother, he had your best interest at heart.

And then came Benson and Hedges that shot you right into mainstream media and to the rest of Nigeria. It was sad to watch you leave our little sphere but happier we were that you guys were never going to disappoint.

We would hear about you on TV, radio and the internet. Both good and bad but we would hold on to the good because evidence of it was your tangible work that was painting Nigeria in a beautiful light. Just the other day I was fighting some women at the salon who held that you guys had gotten to where you were by using dirty means. Blood money, they said. I was pained, and had to scold women who were old enough to give birth to me. They didn't know the struggle, the agony, the sleepless nights. They knew nothing. But you guys do. Nobody has walked in your shoes to know where it pinches.

You have made us proud, P-Square. I cannot overemphasize this. You have more than done well for yourselves. You achieved that dream, the fame, the name, the money, the acclaim. You guys are a textbook of diligence, focus, drive, strive, talent and love.

Peter, you are the open one. You are sometimes too nice to a fault. Very expressive and emotional, you never see any wrong in your neighbor. Paul, you are focused, driven, no-nonsense. You always curtail Peter's excesses and he in turn, makes you more humane. Despite the differences, you blended well and brought out ass-kicking music. You woke a lot of young people up, pushed them to pursue their dreams. You brought dance into Nigerian music sphere.

So where did you guys miss it? What went wrong? Can you go back to the scratch, revisit your goals and start all over again? Can you re-invent yourselves? Because maybe that is what you need. Maybe you need a new direction.

Jude, I can't say much for you except you have done so well as a big brother. You stood by them and supported them. You were there the whole nine yards but don't you think it's time to give them wings to fly? Are you afraid that they will pull down what you have worked so hard for? If that's your fear, then I'm sorry, you don't know your brothers. They will amaze you yet. Just let them breathe out on their own and then be a guide to them. That is what elders do. Your mother was a strong symbol of this. Although a minister in a Catholic charismatic prayer movement, she gave her sons the support they needed in their secular pursuit, cheering them on from the sidelines.

Don't let her prayers go to waste.

I know a lot has changed, guys. You are all grown men; and wives and kids are involved now but you don't want to get grey one day and look back on regret on all this foolishness.

Remember those looking up to you. Remember your fans. Remember your kids. Remember Nigerian music needs you. Remember the days of humble beginnings.

We love you and we don't want you guys to split.

Come back Peter, Come back Paul.
