Mathieu Flamini came on as a late substitute for Arsenal tonight, and he's probably wishing he hadn't bothered.
The Frenchman was brought on in the 82nd minute.
And had conceded a penalty just 47 seconds later.
Without having even touched the ball.
While Flamini shouldn't shoulder all of the blame – the penalty originated from Mertesacker's poor control – it only adds to the Frenchman's status as a bit of a cult joke figure.
The hardman midfielder has made a career out of making tough tackles, but having lost his edge and pace in recent years, all that's really left is yellow card magnet.
Flamini was a real top player during his first stint at Arsenal, but ever since returning to the Emirates the Frenchman has looked increasingly like a liability.
Francis Coquelin had an off night in the defensive midfield role, and was exhausted by the end, which is probably why Wenger made the change, and brought Flamini's fresh legs on.
But oh how that backfired.
